  • This minced meat crumble recipe is the perfect sweet dessert to accompany a roast dinner around Christmas time.

While you will certainly enjoy a few chopped tarts during the holiday season, you are unlikely to have a lot of minced meat crumbs! This unique pudding uses a pot of minced meat and a crunchy combination of ground and chopped almonds to bring something special to the dinner table. But you won’t be spending hours in the kitchen because this Christmas crumble recipe is so simple and also uses traditional baking ingredients including butter and flour. Once cooked, we think it’s best to serve it in small slices, but you can also keep it whole crumble and have people serve themselves.

    • 300g (10oz) plain flour

    • 200 g (7 oz) unsalted butter, at room temperature

    • 100g sachet of ground almonds

    • 100g (31 / 2oz) powdered sugar

    • Pinch of salt

    • 410g jar of minced meat

    • 50g (13 / 4oz) slivered almonds

    • Icing sugar for dusting

    • 7 x 11-inch (18 x 28 cm) baking pan, lined with parchment paper

    • Set the oven to Gas 4 or 180 ° C.

    • Pour the flour into the bowl of a food processor and add the cubed butter, ground almonds, powdered sugar and salt. Whiz the mixture begins to bind. Otherwise, pour the ingredients into a bowl and rub the butter into the flour.

    • Pour about ¾ of the mixture into the bottom of the lined mold and spread it out well then press very firmly.

    • Distribute the minced meat in an even layer on top.

    • Mix the slivered almonds into the remaining mixture, then spread it over the top of the minced meat and lightly press it down.

    • Bake the platter in the center of the oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the filling is lightly browned.

    • Take the tray out of the oven and let it cool in the mold.

    • Use the liner paper to help lift the baking tray onto a cutting board. Sprinkle icing sugar on top, then cut the tray into 12 to 14 fingers.
