Billie Eilish’s anime fashion is totally purchasable on this Korean label’s website

The most notable pieces in Billie Eilish’s goth-meets-hypebeast mall wardrobe come from an underground streetwear brand called Skoot. The Seoul-based label was behind many of Billie’s concert wardrobes, rest wear, awards picks and Billie also wore a cream graffiti Skoot sweater for her music video for So I am.

“Skoot is really sick and makes all those weird custom pieces that you would never expect. Dude, there are so many underground brands coming to Instagram, ”Billie said in an interview recently.

Skoot, interestingly, doesn’t sell through Instagram but through its website and its ready-to-buy pieces are modestly priced; there are manga-themed outerwear, anti-fit sweaters, baggy acid denim, double layered pants, and even graphic print masks ranging from $ 50 to $ 300. The streetwear label was founded in 2016 by artists Koh V and MLMA and Skoot’s anime-themed outerwear and deconstructed sets are all the rage with pop icons like Dua Lipa, Grimes and Rosalia.

“I started following Billie very early on. Then she followed me and started to carry our things. One of the first pieces she wore was a fire print hoodie that I made, ”MLMA recently revealed in an interview.

Hanime remains a big part of the label’s appeal, Koh and MLMA are also working with artist problem6oy for some of their limited edition manga-inspired ready-to-wear prints. Last year, Rosalia threw fans into a frenzy after wearing a coordinating Sailor Moon ensemble in New York City and a matching 3D sticker for i-Phone. BTS frontman Jungkook is also a fan of Skoot’s edgy aesthetic and the pair of skull-print black shirts he wore in a backstage streak in 2020 sold out within days.

MLMA recently revealed in an interview that animation anchors a crucial part of its creative vision.

“I grew up around animation culture because I’m from Korea. Reading comics was really huge, and those kinds of images really inspire me. I like to twist these images in my own way, ”explained the artist.
